With just about a month to go before Rock Band 2 hits store shelves (and my tiny living room), word is starting to hit the streets on some of the more specific details about the game. IGN and others have reported the list of Achievements (360) and Trophies (PS) you can earn for your special (read: short, yellow bus) skillz. Here’s the list for both below.

With the upcoming release of Rock Band 2, the continued debate over which system will offer the most bang for your buck continues to heat up.  Many people continue to press the point that the PS2 and Wii versions of the game will be inferior to their PS3 & 360 counterparts, due to their lack of gameplay features.

We’ve heard the complaints regarding no DLC, no online play and no character creation/customization.  As a current owner of all four of the above consoles, I’d have to agree that those complaints are valid, at least in regard to Rock Band 1.  However, in an article published on Wired.com, author Chris Kohler claims that he was told by Harmonix reps (unnamed in the article) at last month’s E3, that “the Wii version of Rock Band 2 will be a much more competitive product.”

Taken from Harmonix’s press release, and from our earlier Rock Band 2 Features” story, there’s an important piece of info that you may have skipped over if you didn’t read carefully.  84 songs on a disc is a LOT of rockin’ to get through, but Harmonix wanted to have over 100 songs included from the get go! Due to time constraints, the amount of tracks got cut down.  However, the upside of this is that those cut tracks will be available this fall (presumably on release day) as FREE downloadable content!

Before the E3 craziness takes over the site, here’s an announcement made by Activision and Line 6 concerning the technology used for the studio creator portion of Guitar Hero:  World Tour.  For those not familiar with Line 6 POD technology, (myself included) the rest of this article may be a bit much to take in at once, so go slowly…..

An article published by IGN Friday revealed that, in conjunction with Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week festivities next week, an upcoming Xbox LIVE edition of their fabled “Game With Fame” series will feature New York Yankees pitcher, Joba Chamberlain.  Xbox LIVE users have the opportunity to take him on in Activision’s latest, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

To take part in the fun, make sure to send a friend request to gamertag JobaGWF by 6:30pm Eastern Time on Wednesday, July 16th.  Then fire up the game, check your friend list and rock out!

As speculation continues to be fast & furious, we here at RockGamer are jumping on the bandwagon, and bringing you more rumored information on Rock Band 2’s set list.  Please keep in mind that all of this is rumor, and NOT to be taken as fact for now.

We’ll have to wait patiently for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) next week for any confirmation.  The following information was taken from an article posted on Kotaku.

With all the Rock Band-related hype and tidbits floating around the Internet the last week or so, here’s one that’s really worth mentioning.

This juicy morsel, posted in an article by 360 editor Nate Ahern on IGN Insider, referenced via Kotaku, states as follows:

Immediately upon purchasing Rock Band 2 you’ll have the ability to download a huge library of songs, as well as all of the songs off of the original disc as a free download.

It’s been a long time coming, but Microsoft has made some progress in updating the ownership rights issues concerning downloadable content (DLC) purchased via its Xbox 360 consoles.  Anyone who has gotten the Red Rings of Death (RRoD) knows full well the difficulty in getting previously purchased DLC to work on your new console, unless you’re always signed into Xbox LIVE.  If you’ve bought a new console recently or are having issues with transfers, RockGamer.com has the skinny on the new and improved transfer process choices.  Read on for all the details on how to transfer DLC rights between consoles.
