RockGamer.com will be hosting a Rock Band night tonight in New York City at the Village Pourhouse on 3rd (near 11th). This will be our trial run and if things work out as well as we’ve planned for, we’ll be there every Tuesday night going forward.
We’ve got prizes and giveaways (free swag from Harmonix!), drink specials lined up and are expecting a heck of a good time. We’ll be there from 7pm - 11pm and every player who takes part in a song will be entered into a drawing for hourly prizes.
We’ll be bringing our own personal DLC collection, including today’s addition: The Offspring! If you can’t find something to play in the 340+ songs, there’s something wrong with you!
So, come on out and join in on the fun. We’ll see you there!

It’s Tuesday, and I think things are finally getting back to normal here at RockGamer’s NYC headquarters. This weekend was our favorite code monkey, Smeeguel’s big Three-Oh Birthday and it was a Rock Band filled extravaganza thanks to Harmonix.
Friday: Tickets to CrueFest in Saratoga Springs (outside Albany, NY) helped with Day One. Miguel’s talent finished it off as we entered, then proceeded to win (based on a kicka$$ score) the Rock Band competition on the Second Stage Experience at the concert. Long story short (thanks to Youtube) Jen and Miguel got to open for Motley Crue playing Rock Band on stage in front of approximately 20,000 people!
Saturday:
Miguel pisses off the neighbors drumming late into the night, excited to have scored a Rockpedal. He thinks he’s a big boy drummer now.
Sunday: Jen bakes a really bad looking impersonation of an Xbox Cake (pretty tasty though!) and friends all sing Happy Birthday Wishes.
Miguel then turns around to see this on the Rock Band Mesage of the Day screen:
All in all, we had a great weekend and none of it would have been possible without help from Harmonix’s Sean Baptiste, John Drake, and Helen “Hellion” McWilliams. Special thanks also to Jordan Ellington of RockPedal.com. All of you helped me make this a birthday that scored me MAJOR “Awesome Girlfriend” points and one he’ll never forget. You ROCK!
Are you feeling like you missed out on all the fun the other night because you weren’t able to join us at Angels and Kings? Then maybe you can join in the fun at a city near you! The first ever Rock Band Live Tour kicks off in October and will be headed to cities around the country. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 8th. Here are the details from the release:
Another hum drum, hump-day Wednesday night last night? Not in this city!! Harmonix and MTV again sponsored a Rock Fest at Angels and Kings here in Manhattan and lo and behold, they brought with them a copy of Rock Band 2 and prototype Rock Band 2 instruments for us to play with! Code Monkey Smeeguel and I were there to test things out, and to chat with the Harmonix cast about the game and more.
Accompanied by the rockin’ Lenny Kravitz track “Are You Gonna Go My Way”, Gametrailers has the first look at what to expect from the next Guitar Hero installment. Noticeably missing is any definitive title other than “Guitar Hero” so perhaps we will see an updated name for the game which more closely reflects the new reality of “Not Just: Guitar Hero”. [Edit: Just announced, the new title will be Guitar Hero World Tour!] With video promises of the biggest setlist, and the most realistic drums, wouldn’t you wanna “Join Together”? Here’s the link to watch the party.

Filed under the “Better Late than Never” Category, RockGamer.com would like to announce that our team took home the top prize in the Battle of the Bands Charity Event we attended last month (the last photo pictured below).
Team in Training sponsored the event, a Rock Band competition at Starter’s in Longwood, Florida and was there to raise money for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society with over $350 being raised towards the goal.
Five bands competed in the event, including one representing RockGamer.com - and there was some stiff competition. Dr. Rocktopus came dressed in full superhero costumes and was easily the most technically accurate team. 8 Bit Mafia - a team made up of folks who work at EA in Orlando came in second to RockGamer.com and had a great themed look with hats and ties.
