Wired magazine is setting up a new shop here in New York City later this week and if you’re in the area, you may want to attend. Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos will be joining Wired’s Chris Kohler at 7pm for an hour of Games: The Future of Music, a talk about the rise of music games, where they’ve been, where they’re going.  Also planned is an audience Q&A, so if you have something Rock Band related on your mind, you may want to RSVP for the event.

The new store will be located at 15 West 18th St in the city.

If you live in NYC or are visiting the area, this is the kind of crazy shizz you’ll see at Almost Famous Tuesdays at the Village Pourhouse.

’nuff said.

Hey folks, just a quick reminder that RockGamer.com won’t be hosting Rock Band at the Village Pourhouse tonight due to the presidential election. We’ll be back November 11 with close to 50 new songs (AC/DC, 20 free DLC, Presidents of the USA, Hinder, Fall Out Boy, plus next week’s releases.) Don’t forget to pick up your 20 free songs which became available today!

We’ll see you then. In the meantime, GET OUT AND VOTE!

While out in California last month visiting Neversoft headquarters, I made a whole pile of new friends; most from Scorehero and many of which are the best Guitar Hero players in the world.  Little did I know that one of those folks, Dave Barley, was about to become THE player to beat to celebrate tonight’s Guitar Hero World Tour event in New York City.  Nice job Dave!  Read on for the press release with all the details about the event sponsored by KFC.

At the beginning of this month, we featured self-described “American Gothic” band Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman Billy Gorgan getting mo-capped for his debut in Guitar Hero World Tour.  As a playable character, he joins the game along with his music including their new single G.L.O.W.   While it looks like he’s happy to be in the game, that doesn’t necessarily mean he was planning to play their most mainstream hits when hired to do the Guitar Hero World Tour launch party itself.

An article in the LA Times reports that for the $100,000 paycheck he received for the Guitar Hero event, Corgan rewarded the crowd only with Siva - a song from their first album “Gish”  and Tarantula from their 7th album “Zeitgeist”.  After a crowd request for some “oldschool… 1979“, Corgan seemed to decide to go in a different direction and filled the rest of the set with some of their newest darker material .
