Since the launch of Guitar Hero World Tour, drummers everywhere have been registering solid complaints more than solid notes on their sparkly new GHWT drum kits.  According to posts found on forums all over the interwebs, problems have been reported with sensitivity on the pads and cymbals, cross-talk, and other less desirable traits for a drum kit. Well, Activision is listening little ones, and has come up with a solution for you:  a drum controller standard tuning kit.  Read on for more including a screenshot of the tuner program.

Several sources are reporting that forum users have released a barrage of complaints about the new Guitar Hero World Tour drumsets.  Reports of cross-talk, sensitivity issues and just plain hits-not-registering are popping up all over the place.

In response to all this chatter, Activision has posted on its Guitar Hero boards and is directing gamers to a customer support solution.

This reminds us a lot of the original problems Harmonix had with their first round of drum kits, however, there’s essentially zero buzz surrounding their second effort, which seem ot be much better designed.  Perhaps we’ll have to give the Guitar Hero folks a chance to catch up.

Rock Band has a lot to answer for. This time last year, I was a guitarist. Not a great guitarist. Just a normal guitarist, with a healthy disrespect for drummers. I mean everyone knows that the guitarist is the coolest member of the band, right? I had Guitar Hero I and II. I loved those games. It didn’t compare to playing a real guitar, but it was a pleasant way of spending the odd hour with a cool band backing me up.

Then came Rock Band. I bought it for the social aspect. I loved the idea of having friends around. But I knew we’d all end up fighting over the guitar. I mean, who wants to play drums when everyone knows guitar is the best instrument? And who wants to sing? GUITAR MAN, GUITAR! So it came, and I decided to try the drums, primarily to make sure they weren’t faulty. Fun. Maybe I’ll try Medium, just to try all the songs. Hmmmmmm. Not bad. What’s it like on Hard?

Mad Catz - maker of third party controllers for Rock Band- has recently released a portable set of drums for the game available for $49.99.  Although the look pretty spiffy, I’m having a hard time visualizing a scenario where you’d want these over the real drums??  Anyone planning on buying these? If so, what are you going to do with them?

While it may be old news to some, I’m betting there are quite a few of you out there who haven’t heard the latest confirmations from both Microsoft & Sony concerning instrument controller compatibility between the big upcoming music games.

With the controller “lock-out” between Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock, many music gamers are loathe to purchase multiple full new setups this fall when the newest titles and equipment debut in order to play each game to its capacity.  Well, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 owners can now put those fears to rest:

Thanks to posts located HERE at the official Playstation blog, and HERE at the Gamerscore (Official Xbox) blog, both companies have confirmed that any instrument controller from Rock Revolution, Guitar Hero World Tour, and Rock Band 2 will work between all 3 games.  Now, instead of buying everything, you can make the choice you want, knowing you will be able to play everything with little hassle.

Or you can wait and see what our Rockin’ Reviewer, Cena, has to say about the new equipment once he gets his hands on them.  I’m curious to see how much of the new gear he’s gonna spring for, and where he’s gonna put it all!

According to the mathmatically talented folks over at Scorehero.com and their calculations, the song “Seven” by Vagiant in Rock Band is technically impossible to drum your way to a Gold Star score.  “Seven” as well as several other songs in the game have been identified as either impossible to Gold Star on drums and/or on guitar so we spoke with Helen McWilliams, lead singer/guitarist for Vagiant, as well as Harmonix Spokesperson-With-The-Most-Flair for the scoop.
