Apparently the “it” spot for Rock Band rumors these days is Country Music Television’s site CMT.com. CMT blogger Alison Bonaguro was the first to leak the news of the Country pack that we got last week and now it seems CMT has another tip, which was also confirmed by a Rock Band Forum member who saw an ad on VH1. If it’s true, we will be seeing a 6 pack from Roy Orbison coming to Rock Band as downloadable content in January. From the excerpt:
Plus, get details on how you can rock out with The Soul of Rock and Roll with the upcoming release of the Roy Orbison Pack for Rock Band 2 consoles.
Most known for his hit “Oh, Pretty Woman“, if you take a listen, you may also remember “You Got It“, and “Blue Bayou” which was also done by Linda Rondstadt. We’ll just have to wait and see what we get!
[EDIT: This news has been officially confirmed by Harmonix through their email 'zine pictured after the video!]
Chatter is ablaze on the RockBand official forums with several members posting comments that they viewed a very special tv commercial today. According to several people, the VH1 Classic channel aired a promo video that announces Rush’s “Moving Pictures” album will be available for download next week (Tues Aug 26 for xbox and Thurs Aug 28 for Playstation).

I am not really a fan of this “nibble nibble” form of receiving the GHWT setlist that’s going on, where we keep hearing bits and pieces through Stuff Mag, Tool Website, PS3 articles, etc. I’d much rather just wait and get ONE announcement from Activision of the entire setlist so I can sit down and chew through that.
However, one of the “leaked” setlists has seen a striking number of its predictions confirmed through one source or another, so it’s gaining credibility as the announcements gain speed. Therefore, we’re going to provide that list, as well as the sources of confirmation, just in case it happens to end up being true. If it is true, it’s one hell of a list! Thanks to the ga-forums for originally compiling all of this and keeping up with the sources. We’ve added a few more of our own as well.

Warner Music fired a shot at MTV and Activision, saying that it may pull out of both the Rock Band and Guitar Hero franchises. Edgar Bronfman of WMG is saying that they aren’t getting their fair share of sales, but Activision was quick to fire back.
An article coming from the Financial Times quoted Activision’s CEO Robert Kotick saying “I think his view was … that [Warner Music] should be compensated the way they might for a performance on iTunes. But, this is an entirely different business [than iTunes] that is very technically complex. We’re going to favor those publishers that recognize and appreciate how much we can add value to their artists.”
A Warner Music spokesman said the company had “enormous respect” for the investment and creativity game-publishers had brought to the music-gaming business.
He added: “We hope that our partners in the gaming space appreciate not only the value of their own contributions but also those of the recording artists, songwriters, record labels and music publishers on which their games are significantly based.”
How come the benjamins always seem to get in the way of the fans? Warner’s catalog includes Led Zeppelin, R.E.M., The B-52s, Green Day, and Depeche Mode. Look at DragonForce album sales before and after Guitar Hero III and tell me it’s not worth it!
With the upcoming release of Rock Band 2, the continued debate over which system will offer the most bang for your buck continues to heat up. Many people continue to press the point that the PS2 and Wii versions of the game will be inferior to their PS3 & 360 counterparts, due to their lack of gameplay features.
We’ve heard the complaints regarding no DLC, no online play and no character creation/customization. As a current owner of all four of the above consoles, I’d have to agree that those complaints are valid, at least in regard to Rock Band 1. However, in an article published on Wired.com, author Chris Kohler claims that he was told by Harmonix reps (unnamed in the article) at last month’s E3, that “the Wii version of Rock Band 2 will be a much more competitive product.”

As speculation continues to be fast & furious, we here at RockGamer are jumping on the bandwagon, and bringing you more rumored information on Rock Band 2’s set list. Please keep in mind that all of this is rumor, and NOT to be taken as fact for now.
We’ll have to wait patiently for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) next week for any confirmation. The following information was taken from an article posted on Kotaku.
With all the Rock Band-related hype and tidbits floating around the Internet the last week or so, here’s one that’s really worth mentioning.
This juicy morsel, posted in an article by 360 editor Nate Ahern on IGN Insider, referenced via Kotaku, states as follows:
Immediately upon purchasing Rock Band 2 you’ll have the ability to download a huge library of songs, as well as all of the songs off of the original disc as a free download.
