Archive for the Rock Band DLC Category

royorbisonJust two days after getting a sneak peak at January’s potential line-up for Rock Band downloadable content, Harmonix was kind enough to confirm the first week’s goodies.  On tap for January 6th is Roy Six-Pack.  Per the Xbox Live website announcement we’ll get six songs from the man most known for “Oh, Pretty Woman”.  Now that everything’s all official-like, we’ll get DLC Central updated so you can check out the songs yourself.  Check out the list below for all 6 titles.

  • “Claudette” by Roy Orbison
  • “In Dreams” by Roy Orbison
  • “Mean Woman Blues” by Roy Orbison
  • “Oh, Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison
  • “Ooby Dooby” by Roy Orbison
  • “You Got It” by Roy Orbison

Individual tracks will set you back 160 MS Points ($2 on PSN) each with the entire six-track pack at 800 MS Points.

Why wait until Fridays for the announcements of upcoming Rock Band downloadable content when you may be able to catch a glimpse of what’s coming from the Rock Band website’s  Battle of the Bands pages?  According to the upcoming battles schedule (which may likely be hidden soon), we can expect Roy Orbison, Lenny Kravitz and Steve Miller Band on tap for January!  We’ll keep you updated as we see the “official” announcements, but for now we’ve got a pretty good idea of what to expect.

After long delay (sorry about that, rockers), here’s the downloadable content for Tuesday, 12/30 (as stated by HMXAlex on the Rockband Forums):

Our next batch of DLC features a trifecta of classic rock tracks from such notable bands as Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, and James Gang. Additionally, a single from Scottish alternative rock group Snow Patrol’s latest record will be up for your rocking pleasure.

The full list is as follows:

Deep Purple - “Space Truckin”"
James Gang - “Funk #49″
Jethro Tull - “Hymn 43″
Snow Patrol - “Take Back the City”

All songs will be available for 160 MS points on Xbox Live Marketplace, and $1.99 on the PlayStation Network.

The release dates for these songs will be December 30th on Xbox Live Marketplace, and January 8th on the PlayStation Network, due to Sony being on holiday next week.

newyearseveOk, so the holidays are almost over, and so is our hangover - time to update our valued readers on the dealeo.  (I’m so not cool - is that how you spell that?)  Who cares - onward!

Are you wondering what to do this Tuesday night, which happens to be New Year’s Eve-Eve (12/30)?  Well, come on out and join RockGamer.com’s Jen and Smeeguel for a New Year’s themed night of fun and debauchery at the Village Pourhouse on the corner of 11th and 3rd in the Big Apple.   Bring your crazy 2009 glasses, hats and noisemakers because we’re gonna have a great time celebrating the new year early.

As usual, we’ll be bringing you new Rock Band downloadable content, including the four new tracks that Harmonix is releasing that day from Snow Patrol, Deep Purple, James Gang, and Jethrol Tull.  When we’re fully sober, we’ll get DLC Central updated so you can take a listen and start practicing your vocals.

Apparently the “it” spot for Rock Band rumors these days is Country Music Television’s site CMT.com.  CMT blogger Alison Bonaguro was the first to leak the news of the Country pack that we got last week and now it seems CMT has another tip, which was also confirmed by a Rock Band Forum member who saw an ad on VH1.  If it’s true, we will be seeing a 6 pack from Roy Orbison coming to Rock Band as downloadable content in January.  From the excerpt:

Plus, get details on how you can rock out with The Soul of Rock and Roll with the upcoming release of the Roy Orbison Pack for Rock Band 2 consoles.

Most known for his hit “Oh, Pretty Woman“, if you take a listen, you may also remember “You Got It“, and “Blue Bayou” which was also done by Linda Rondstadt.  We’ll just have to wait and see what we get!

xmashanukkahOh, the weather outside is frightful, but the DLC will be delightful.  Ok cheesy, but really- heavy snow expected today in NYC. Thanks to Harmonix we won’t mind because we’ll soon be singin’ along to some merry Christmas and happy Hanukkah tunes for Rock Band! December 23rd brings us three holiday themes to ring our inner jingle bells, including my personal favorite rockin’ Christmas song from Billy Squier, all for only 99¢/80 points each or $2.99/240points for the happy pack.sammyxmas

Holiday Track Pack

  • Barenaked Ladies - “Hanukkah Blessings”
  • Billy Squier - “Christmas is the Time To Say I Love You”
  •  The Pretenders - “Blue Christmas”

Now my only complaint is why didn’t we get Adam Sandler’s “Turkey Song” for Thanksgiving or Hanukkah song in this one?

If the rumor is to be believed, Guns N Roses fans may be delighted to know that all of the recently released (and long awaited) album Chinese Democracy could be headed to Rock Band as downloadable content.  Wired reports that during a recent talk with fans, Axl Rose was asked if there was any chance of the rest of the album appearing in Rock Band, after the band debuted “Shackler’s Revenge” in RB2.  Without any more details, he answered, “I think that’s a yes on Rock Band.

With the announcement of Pearl Jam’s Ten coming in March, and the recent appearance of The Colour and the Shape from the Foo Fighters, there certainly seems to be a pattern from Harmonix of bringing great albums to completion after showcasing one strong song from each in the starting lineup in Rock Band 2.  We’ll be keeping an eye out for any other goodies to come.

pearljam-tenIf you watched the 2008 Video Game Awards on Spike TV, you hopefully caught this bit of news!  According to Spike TV’s Geoff Keighley in a backstage segment following the Award for Best Independent Game, the album is due to drop in March 2009.  (Presumably minus “Alive”)  We’ll be sure to post any updates as they become available…
