Resident Rock Band drum experts Phr34k and Someguy913 are officially insane. After his first Drum Hell session in July 2008, Rock Band drummer Sean “Phr34k” Feica picked up a world record after an exhausting 26 hours of uninterrupted expert drumming through every song available (235 including DLC) in the Rock Band catalog at the time.
Ready for the next challenge, Phr34k and Someguy913 will be competing side by side for charity and plan to spend 60+ hours drumming nonstop through over 530 songs that now fill the Rock Band catalog. Join them on Jan 2 to help cheer them on and support the United Way by watching live at http://drumhell.pmsclan.com/. Interested in more details? Check out the official announcement at pmsclan.com.
Ok, so the holidays are almost over, and so is our hangover - time to update our valued readers on the dealeo. (I’m so not cool - is that how you spell that?) Who cares - onward!
Are you wondering what to do this Tuesday night, which happens to be New Year’s Eve-Eve (12/30)? Well, come on out and join RockGamer.com’s Jen and Smeeguel for a New Year’s themed night of fun and debauchery at the Village Pourhouse on the corner of 11th and 3rd in the Big Apple. Bring your crazy 2009 glasses, hats and noisemakers because we’re gonna have a great time celebrating the new year early.
As usual, we’ll be bringing you new Rock Band downloadable content, including the four new tracks that Harmonix is releasing that day from Snow Patrol, Deep Purple, James Gang, and Jethrol Tull. When we’re fully sober, we’ll get DLC Central updated so you can take a listen and start practicing your vocals.
We are sorry to announce that, due to a scheduling conflict at the Village Pourhouse, there will be no Rock Band tonight (12/16). We’re taking steps to make sure we can give you more advanced notice next time we reschedule.
Please accept the following olive branch on behalf of the Pourhouse. Next Tuesday (12/23) we will have an open bar from 7-8PM and a free buffet, so be there early and be prepared to rock out and get crunk!
Our apologies for the short notice.
Hey everyone, just letting you all know that the photos from last night’s Funde Razor NYC are now posted HERE.
We also scanned all the score sheets from the Rock Band Battle of the Bands, so you can see how you ranked amongst all the competitors.
Here they are, sorted by total score from highest to lowest (click on the band name for the score sheet):

Tonight marks that time of year for all gamers in New York, Denver and San Francisco to get together, rock out, and win some really cool prizes.
Here in NYC, RockGamer.com and Joel Johnson will be co-hosting the event at the Village Pourhouse on 11th and 3rd in Manhattan. We’ll be there from 7PM until we get kicked out of the joint. And don’t forget about our Rock Band tournament tonight, judged by the folks at Harmonix and Universal Music.
Funde Razor 2008 is less than two days away, and RockGamer HQ keeps filling up with generous donations from our sponsors.
Today we received a SingStar PS2 pack courtesy of Sony, including a PlayStation 2 console, SingStar ABBA, SingStar Country, SingStar Legends, and Singstar Pop vol. 2.
Another package arrived today, this time from our friends at EA Redwood Shores/Maxis. The envelope contained a copy of MySims Kingdom for the Nintendo Wii, signed by Executive Producer Tim LeTourneau and Lead Designer Hunter Howe. Rumor has it that the folks at Redwood Shores have sent us another signed game or two… Dead Space anyone?
If you’re in the New York City area and want to win some of this cool swag, bring some donation money to the Village Pourhouse Wednesday night for an evening of raffles, Rock Band, and partying for Child’s Play. Also, if you’re near Denver or San Francisco, go to www.funderazor.com for details on your local Funde Razor events.
In case you live in the vicinity of Denver, San Francisco or New York City, and you haven’t made up your mind about attending FUNDE RAZOR 2008 next Wednesday, December 10, Offworld’s Joel Johnson has posted a near-final raffle giveaway list for the New York City leg of this Child’s Play charity event.
In addition to our laundry list of prizes, we are happy to announce that Harmonix is sending several of its community team members to NYC to judge the Rock Band tournament, kiss hands and shake babies.
While you’re there, make sure you stop by to say hello. Jen and I will be hosting the RB tourney and/or manning the judges’ table. See below for Joel’s giveaway list… and a few additions of our own!

Last night’s photos from our weekly Rock Band night, Almost Famous Tuesdays, are now up. We had a packed house, partly due to a Duke basketball game (at a Duke bar), which worked out great because I think we converted a few of them to Rockbandism.
Click Here to check out the gallery.
REMINDER: Join us at the Village Pourhouse next Wednesday, December 10, for FUNDE RAZOR 2008, a tri-city benefit for Child’s Play. It will include a Rock Band Tournament, Rock Band free play, and incredible raffle prizes. In order to prepare for this mega-event, we WILL NOT be holding Almost Famous Tuesdays next week (12/9), but will be back to our regular schedule the following Tuesday, December 16.
For more details on the New York portion of the event, you can visit our Funde Razor page. And if you’re closer to the Denver or San Francisco events, we invite you to show up and support a great cause.
