This morning I woke up with mixed feelings. I’ve listened to “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” since the day I bought it on old cassette tape many, many years ago. I can sing along with probably 14 of the 16 songs on the album as accurately as I could recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school. I’m a HUGE RHCP fan.
Now with that out of the way, here’s where my fur is getting rubbed the wrong way. My favorite Chili Peppers song ever is “Sir Psycho Sexy”. I’ve been wondering in my mind over the last few weeks since Harmonix announced it as an upcoming DLC album, exactly what the vocal track on this song (among others) would contain. Today I found out.

Harmonix and MTV have long sung the praises of Rock Band as a platform rather than just a game in which you’d just continue to buy expansions. This seems to conflict with two of their latest announcements. The most recent, of course, being the release of the AC/DC Track Pack (being purchased as a disc rather than DLC). But taking a step back, they’ve also made it clear that the original Rock Band tracks will never be released as DLC. Why, you ask? Because they want to publish the original Rock Band forever.
A report from The New York Times has confirmed MTV’s deal with AC/DC to release a Rock Band expansion disc featuring eighteen of the band’s tracks featured on the “AC/DC Live at Donnington” DVD. The game will be made available exclusively through Wal-Mart as part of their marketing blitz for the band’s upcoming album “Black Ice” and will hit the store’s shelves on November 2nd for $29.98 on the Playstation 2, and $39.98 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii.
Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 owners will also receive a one-time use code with their copy of the game, allowing them to export the eighteen tracks for use in Rock Band and Rock Band 2. As of yet, there is no news regarding a possible DLC release of these tracks, despite previous comments from Angus Young that the band wasn’t into the model of selling singles, and preferred that listeners get their work in a full album format.
Just over a week after the fiery crash which sent him to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia, Travis Barker is on his way home.
According to Beth Frits, spokesperson for the Burn Center, “Travis is in good condition and was discharged this morning.”
An unnamed source told People Magazine that Barker, who resides in Los Angeles, is “on a bus headed for LA,” and that, “he will never fly again - ever.”
Travis Barker was the drummer for Blink-182 and his song “All the Small Things” is available as downloadable content for Rock Band for XBox360 and PS3.

Back in the ’80s, video gaming with peripherals wasn’t all too uncommon. Nintendo published things like the Power Glove and ROB the Robot. While it wasn’t too successful, it made playing a video game a whole different experience. We bring us to 2008 where our living rooms are cluttered with plastic guitars, drums, microphones, dance mats and more and we don’t hesitate to shell out another decently large sum of cash to purchase more of the same objects that perform the same functionality.
Welcome to the age of the rhythm action game. The age where games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band are not only selling hardware peripherals, but also selling video game hardware to play it on. People who have never touched a video game in their life will throw hundreds of dollars into investing into plastic instruments. It’s gotten to the point where they are creating outrageous peripherals that cost a lot of money to try and simulate the “rocking” experience. I find it quite silly.
Suppose a company like Harmonix or Activision came up to you and asked you to create a ridiculous peripheral for their next rhythm action game? What would you make and how much would you charge for it?
I asked myself this question and came up with these ten completely ridiculous rhythm game peripherals (that would probably sell), which you can find after the jump.

It’s the last week of the month and Harmonix is blessing us with another full album of rock/funk/punk goodness - this time by RHCP with their 1991 hit “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”. All the songs on the album will be included, except for “Give It Away”, which will be on the Rock Band 2 disc - sorry, Rock Band classic owners.
Each song will be priced individually at 160
for XBox folks or $1.99 for Playstation owners, while the entire album will cost 1600
/ $19.99 (a pretty good deal for 16 songs!). Look for them next week on Tuesday, September 30 for Xbox Live, and Thursday, October 2nd on the PlayStation Store. For previews of the songs, check out RockGamer.com’s DLC Central.

We stumbled across Performance Mode and decided to take it for a spin.
