The folks over at IGN have put together a great preview of what we can expect from the upcoming release of Guitar Hero World Tour (which we know is a “Complete Band Game“). Here are some of the most notable points we found:
- 8 songs listed adds 2 new confirms to the “leaked list” - likely the real deal
- Wireless drums are rock solid sturdy, quiet and adjustable (req 2 AA batt)
- Use the touch pad on the new guitar to “tap” bass notes or to slide through purple-linked notes
- Vocals adds an “easy” mode that only measures rhythm and not pitch
- Vocalists get free-form areas where you can sing what and how you like
- You can’t “save” a band member who’s failed -activate star power to boost them up a bit before they fail
- If you pause the song mid-game, a handy 3 second countdown before the song starts back up
All in all, some pretty relevant, solid information. RockGamer wrote about some of the great new features previously including character customization so check that out if you are craving more GHWT info. You can read the full story from IGN here - and thanks, guys!!

Lol..? Vocals easy mode… Isn’t that called easy? Even on a song I’ve never heard, I find it hard to imagine failing on medium or lower.
Vocals free-form? Ooooh like on RB when you aren’t singing anything? Or maybe when you want Energy? lol
And you can’t save anyone??? WTF! During parties, I rely on that feature to make it through a song, because usually noone is very good.
At least the second thing is alright…

I know we tend to come across as a little fanboyish towards RB at RockGamer… but I gotta say GHWT is shaping up quite nicely. The hardware looks solid, the music creator (if done right) could result in a potentially unlimited song library, and their setlist is pretty darn good.
I’m definitely willing to give this game a try, as long as they stop screwing over their competitors (and ultimately the consumer) by signing unnecessary exclusivity deals.
Here’s a novel idea, Activision: stop trying trying to cripple the other guy and become the better product by innovating. Stand out on your own merits. I know it’s hard not to think with your wallet when you have to answer to shareholders, but guess what? So is MTV and they’re taking the high road. So forget your lust for the rich man’s gold… all that you need is in your soul. And you can do this if you try… all that I want for you Activision, is to beeeee satisfieeeed. BUSCH.
/end rant
