Guitar Hero World Tour Nibbles Through Leaked SetList

I am not really a fan of this “nibble nibble” form of receiving the GHWT setlist that’s going on, where we keep hearing bits and pieces through Stuff Mag, Tool Website, PS3 articles, etc.  I’d much rather just wait and get ONE announcement from Activision of the entire setlist so I can sit down and chew through that.

However, one of the “leaked” setlists has seen a striking number of its predictions confirmed through one source or another, so it’s gaining credibility as the announcements gain speed. Therefore, we’re going to provide that list, as well as the sources of confirmation, just in case it happens to end up being true.  If it is true, it’s one hell of a list!   Thanks to the ga-forums for originally compiling all of this and keeping up with the sources. We’ve added a few more of our own as well.

Here is the list that was leaked, with the confirmed songs in bold, rumored songs with strong likelihood underlined,  and the sources of the confirmations listed in legend at the end.  This list was supposedly done “from memory” by “a guy working on the game” and posted by “his friend”.

  3. http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classi…E?OpenDocument (appears to confirm “The Joker”… unless you know another rumored song with “toker” in the lyrics)
  4. An article in Stuff confirmed:
    Quote:
Steve Miller Band - The Joker
    Interpol - Obstacle 1
The Doors - Light My Fire
Linkin Park - In The End
    Michael Jackson - Beat It
Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings

As well as confirmed artists, but their songs unkown

    Nirvana
    Muse
    Beastie Boys
    Van Halen
    Foo Fighters

Although at least two of those have been shown to be incorrect according to both the leaked list and other sources and both Van Halen and Foo Fighters tracks were already known calling these confirmations into doubt.

  5. Joe Satriani has said that Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2 “have just licensed “Satch Boogie” and “Surfing with the Alien” for upcoming versions,” according to an interview with Satriani in Guitar World Magazine.
  6. NOFX have allegedly stated that “Soul Doubt” will be in the game.

If this is in fact the real setlist, I personally believe Rock Band 2’s to win overall. There are still great gems regardless, especially with Hotel California, Beat It, The Wind Cries Mary, and Purple Haze in the mix amongst others. But those were already known.

i heard that the killers might be on it

wow - this is really disappointing and confirms my switch from GH to RB. Harmonix only employs people who know music - and you can see it in every facet of what they do. Plus who doesn’t want a 500+ song list vs a 100+ ?

  4. 4justinNo Gravatar on Aug 18, 2008 at 12:38 pm:

In fact, every good song on this list (with the exception of Hendrix, Eagles, Van halen, and OzzY) has been confirmed for Rock Band 2, which may be where they came from in the first place. GH will never catch up.

so guitar hero has more inovative instruments and features, it will be close in the battle

  6. 6WatchMaster23No Gravatar on Aug 18, 2008 at 6:38 pm:

Innovative..? Idk really. It’s a guitar hero guitar with a slider, which sounds potentially cool, I guess. But I’m just going to call it and say it becomes overly gimmicky after a while. Drums, not much new except cymbals which you can also get with RB2? Haven’t heard anything new on the mic, but who knows. Maybe it will be able to make me a sammich, in which case I will purchase said microphone. That’s probably about the best GH could do for me at this point. Get on it, Activision! I want me some sammich!

Kent - Vinternoll2 is now officially confirmed by the band on their website

Thanks for not bothering to attribute that to me. I’ve been updating that list on GAF for a while now and you just copied it wholesale leaving my attributions and everything else intact.

Of course, since not everything has been confirmed yet I’m still updating it at GAF at: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=330524

If you’d asked nicely I wouldn’t have minded you reposting it, but I’d like to request that you take this down now due to just ripping it off.

    Belgand,

I’m so sorry for any confusion! I actually did post your exact link listed below as the original source to the material when I printed the first article http://www.rockgamer.com/2008/08/16/guitar-hero-world-tour-nibbles-through-leaked-setlist/. I guess as we started working on more and more of the research ourselves and adding our own sources, we linked back to our original article (which credited and linked to you) but we could have made that clearer in the subsequent posts and on the static page we started keeping the list for clarity. We’re honored that you’re reading our site and took the time to point out the misunderstanding.

I’ll be more than happy to add more links on the static page to remind everyone where the starting work was done if that helps. Will that work?

    Regards, fellow rocker,

    Jen
