Six New Albums Coming to Rock Band

G4 has an exclusive story with breaking Rock Band news! According to their story, they’ve spoken with PR coordinator John Drake.  Certainly we already knew that Harmonix’s extensive DLC catalog would be at 500 by the end of the year, but we are excited to hear that we’ll have a new album coming out in the next 16 days!!

Here are all the reported tidbits they picked up:

  • There will be six new, full albums announced for the music game by the end of the August. One is a metal record, one is alternative, one is a pop album. We don’t know which albums they’ll be, though, but Harmonix is genuinely excited by the new content.
  • A new, full album will be out by the end of August. We don’t know what yet, but we asked if it was Rush’s Moving Pictures, and Drake would neither confirm nor deny it.
  • Steely Dan’s “Bodhisattva,” included with Rock Band 2, is destined to be the most difficult guitar song ever in the series. Drake said the guitar part is “mathematically possible” to play, but, as yet, no one has been able to score 100% on the song. We’re sure the legion of Rock Band 2 players out there will take this as a challenge come the release of the game in October!
  • Harmonix plans to hit the 500 song mark for DLC by the end of the year.

Metal Album? PLEASE be one of the following:

    “Powerslave” - Iron Maiden
“Vulgar Display of Power” or “Cowboys From Hell” - Pantera
    “Kill ‘Em All” - Metallica
    “Among the Living” - Anthrax
    “British Steel” - Judas Priest

So many to more to hope for, but these would be my top picks off the top of my head…..

I don’t listen to much metal… but I do know some Iron Maiden, enough to say Piece of Mind or A Matter of Life And Death over Powerslave by a long shot. Powerslave is a hit or miss album, which means A) It’s not a smart one to pick from Iron Maiden’s enormous collection, and B) I personally dislike it, so of course I don’t want it :P

“The Fall of Ideals” - All That Remains
    “Doomsday Machine” - Arch Enemy
“Waking the Fallen” - (Good) Avenged Sevenfold XD
    Anything by Children of Bodom
Plz no Dragonforce, sick and tired of it/ can’t bear to listen to more than a couple songs at a time…
    Anything by The Haunted
MEGADETHHH.. But we know that won’t happen.
“Twilight in Olympus” - Symphony X
It’s sad, but I’m gonna call the metal album right now.. either “Poison Digipak” - BFMV or some Maiden. Just my guess.

Excellent. Greatly looking forward to the new albums, although I must admit that DLC is becoming an expensiev investment.
