In a recent brief chat with “Rush Hour” director and Activision consultant Brett Ratner, MTV Multiplayer learned two interesting little factoids. One: Brett Ratner is the rat bastard responsible for the confusing and non-discernible name of the “complete band game” called oddly enough: Guitar Hero World Tour. Two: Activision has retained some common sense beyond their actual hiring of Ratner in that they have so far refused to allow him to make a Guitar Hero movie.

This week’s DLC proceeds are going to charity and the obvious choice is the Child’s Play Charity, which is run by Penny Arcade. The Pax 2008 Collection will go for a buck a piece and include the following tracks:
- Jonathan Coulton “Skullcrusher Mountain”
- MC Frontalot “Livin’ on the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe”
- Darkest of the Hillside Thickets “Shhh….”

With all the marathon/Endless Setlist festivities going around the last few weeks in preparation for Rock Band 2’s release next month, count 2 more among Rock Band’s elite.
RockGamer.com forum member blakbuzzrd (game character Bran on bass) and yours truly, Chicago Horde (game character Shadow Weaver G on guitar) set our sites on completing the Endless Setlist. After a total of 8 long hours, we managed to knock it out of the park and add some platinum icons to our repertoire.
With just over 2 weeks until Rock Band 2 ships for the Xbox 360, are ya wondering which songs will be the hardest on drums? Easiest on vocals? Wonder no more, as the fine folks at IGN (with the help of Harmonix) have compiled difficulty listings for each song, for individual instruments and full band, from easiest song to the most difficult. Time to start organizing those playlists on your iPod!
Listings are after the break:

While it may be old news to some, I’m betting there are quite a few of you out there who haven’t heard the latest confirmations from both Microsoft & Sony concerning instrument controller compatibility between the big upcoming music games.
With the controller “lock-out” between Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock, many music gamers are loathe to purchase multiple full new setups this fall when the newest titles and equipment debut in order to play each game to its capacity. Well, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 owners can now put those fears to rest:
Thanks to posts located HERE at the official Playstation blog, and HERE at the Gamerscore (Official Xbox) blog, both companies have confirmed that any instrument controller from Rock Revolution, Guitar Hero World Tour, and Rock Band 2 will work between all 3 games. Now, instead of buying everything, you can make the choice you want, knowing you will be able to play everything with little hassle.
Or you can wait and see what our Rockin’ Reviewer, Cena, has to say about the new equipment once he gets his hands on them. I’m curious to see how much of the new gear he’s gonna spring for, and where he’s gonna put it all!
Due to the technical difficulties we told you about, we were denied the Rush album this week for our Rock Band DLC, but promised we would get “something”. For the last minute “something” swap, Harmonix has given us a three pack from an MTV exec’s favorite band: Locksley. Hey, at least they stuck to their word and didn’t go DLC-less for the week.

Don’t Make Me Wait
All Over Again

Special thanks to contributing members vidkid7 and mikewithe, who not only posted the sources on the forums, but also wrote this story and compiled a list of all the songs in the albums.
After the technical difficulties that plagued the release of “Moving Pictures” as this week’s set of DLC, Harmonix and Entertainment Weekly have opted to soothe the burn by revealing five more full album releases before the end of 2008, as well as a special compilation pack.

Most of us were looking forward to playing along to the 1981 album “Moving Pictures” by Rush this week, as Harmonix had promised us this treat for our weekly dose of DLC. When we logged on yesterday and found no Rush, we were concerned. Today, that concern has turned to panic. Here’s the updated announcement from Comunity Manager HMXSean from the Rock Band Forums:
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen technical difficulties, we won’t be able to release Rush’s “Moving Pictures” this week. We’ll be working on it as hard as we can, but it looks like it could be a couple of weeks to fix. In the meantime we will be moving around our schedule so we still have DLC coming out each week (including this week, info to follow in another announcement).
A couple of weeks!?!?!! Dangit! Well, it will be interesting to see what they can scramble together to put in place on short notice so we don’t go hungry for rock this week!
