Jimi Hendrix in Guitar Hero: World Tour

The Associated Press is reporting that Guitar Hero: World Tour will contain two of the best songs of all time (in my opinion of course) by famed rocker Jimi Hendrix. The two tracks promised are “Purple Haze”, and “The Wind Cries Mary” and reportedly more songs are to come in the form of downloadable content (DLC) for future release. Although the original Guitar Hero contained the cover track “Spanish Castle Magic”, this will be the first time that a player can rock as Hendrix himself thanks to Experience Hendrix. The organization which runs the late guitarist’s legacy provided the game’s developers with the ability to use his likeness, as well as his music.

The version of ‘Purple Haze’ that will be featured is a live track, recorded at the San Diego Sports Arena in 1969. According to Songfacts.com, this song contains one of the most misheard lyrics ever, with “Scuse me while I kiss the sky” interpreted as “Scuse me while I kiss this guy.” Hendrix added to the confusion by sometimes singing it that way and pointing to one of his band members.

[UPDATE: According to a second source, Rolling Stone magazine's "Rock and Roll Daily Blog", some of the DLC we get after release may include the tracks "Foxy Lady" and "Little Wing". Click here to read the full article.]
