Remember when Jen reported that The Today Show taped the Rock Band 2 demo at Angels & Kings? It looks like they finally aired the piece this morning.

It begins with a few shots and sound bites from the A&K party, and ends with a gut-busting rendition of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” by the Today cast. Keep an eye out for a cameo by your resident AC/DC-clad code monkey.

[Edit by Jen: Don't let Miguel get away with sounding so humble. Out of about 6 of us that were interviewed on camera, he's the only Non-Harmonix person who made the editing room cut and really says anything!! Way to be a TV pseudo-celeb man! Glad you're with RockGamer!]

Are you a leadfoot drummer like me? If you haven’t already bought a replacement pedal for your Rock Band drums, RockGamer.com is here to help. Head on over to Cena’s Corner for CENACHAINGANG54’s in-depth breakdown of the Value Pedal.

Guitar Hero: World Tour has been touted by Activision as a “big innovation” for the successful franchise. Not only has the game expanded to include drums and vocals, the guitar itself has had a huge upgrade. Take a look at the video which showcases the new slider bar and features.

From our pal HMXSean on the RockBand forums, we have our weekly announcement of new master tracks to be added to the Rock Band DLC Catalog.  Metal Heads, enjoy!

Next week we have a nice little cross section of tracks. We have the amazing Testament, members of System of a Down in Scars on Broadway, perennial favorites Staind, and a .99 track from thenewno2. The Scars on Broadway track and the Staind track are both singles from their new albums being released through Rock Band. Awesome!

Another hum drum, hump-day Wednesday night last night?  Not in this city!!  Harmonix and MTV again sponsored a Rock Fest at Angels and Kings here in Manhattan and lo and behold, they brought with them a copy of Rock Band 2 and prototype Rock Band 2 instruments for us to play with! Code Monkey Smeeguel and I were there to test things out, and to chat with the Harmonix cast about the game and more.

Over eight months ago when Mike and I first had the idea to start a website based on news, rumors, updates and more about music/rhythm games, I had just been introduced to newly released Rock Band and Guitar Hero III games. I assumed there must have been a GH and a GH II, but other than that, I wasn’t familiar with any previous iterations of similar games. Since then, it seems like a tsunami of new titles has been washing us away with new releases and announcements and it’s getting hard to keep up. So, I’m wondering, where should RockGamer go from here Continue Reading “Music Game Floodwaters Have Broken Through the Dam” »

“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! We are about to witness a slobberknocker!

“In the blue corner, weighing in at a gazillion dollars and managed by mega-publisher Activision, we have a newcomer to the full-band genre… Guitar Hero World Tour! Their exclusive deals, music creator, and incredibly sexy drums are sure to intimidate any competitor.

“Fighting in the red corner, managed by music goliath MTV, and trying to hold on to full-band supremacy, we have scrappy musicians turned superstar developers Harmonix with Rock Band 2! With a setlist to drool over and groundbreaking online modes, will the champ show enough heart to hold on to the belt, or have they lost the Eye of the Tiger?”

LET’S GET READY TO RUUUUUMBLEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Ding, ding!
