Ladies, and Casual-Gamer Gentlemen, this story is for you.  With all of the details being posted about the newly announced Guitar Hero World Tour game coming this fall, it would seem there is nothing left to discuss.  But, as a non-gaming type, and after reading the article in Game Informer magazine, I beg to differ.  The buzzwords here are “Player Freedom”, meaning the ability to present yourselves to the world as the rockers you want to be. Here are some of the details that I personally found fascinating with some low tech screen shots of the pictures from the mag.

Hello!!! McFly?   HELLO?     Just wanted to point out some of the new features we’ve added lately.  First and foremost, is the awesome Rock Band DLC section, fully sortable with sound clips and links to videos for each instrument, AND lyrics.   It’s still evolving, but Jen and I would like to send a huge ‘Rock On’ to Smeeguel for all the sleep he’s lost coding this for us.    He’s got it working in Firefox, IE, Safari, and it even works on an IPhone!   If you have any suggestions please let us know in the forums.

Speaking of the forums, the new software is working great, but though our super pan-internet tracking virus (Ok, Google Analytics) we’ve seen lots of people only using the news pages.  You’re missing out!  We did a lot of tweaking on the theme to make it a lot easier to read (it was awfully dark) but I refuse to remove the zombies on the sidebars.  There is a lot of great discussion going on, about everything from Guitar Hero World Tour to the new Indiana Jones Movie.   With all the new games coming out, head on over to the forums and join in the discussion.

We’ve added alot of anti-spam measures, ever since our Google page rank increased we’ve been bombarded with bots spamming our comments and creating fake users….  The counter measures seem to be working great without the need to enter those annoying letters.

So, if you’ve made it this far reading the post, take some time to click on some of the other great features other than the news section.   Some of you have written asking about our poll, wanting to know if that new pasta from Pizza Hut is really tasty.   Yeah.  It’s pretty damn good.    And.. Um.. Pancakes must be cured.
Peace out.

Mike

Straight from the coffee houses of the Netherlands comes a video that takes a look at the Guitar Hero World Tour drumset in action. Featured on the video are drummers Stewart Copeland from The Police, Blink 182’s Travis Barker, and Chad Smith from RHCP or it might be Will Ferrell from SNL - we’re not sure. Take a look and weigh in… on whether that’s Will Ferrell or not.

Certainly subject to change, but for now posted on Gamestop.com’s site is the first look at the pricing for the just announced 4th installment of the hit Guitar Hero series, Guitar Hero World Tour. From the dates posted, it looks like release will be October 27, 2008 and although PS2 fans will save $10 bucks compared to the rest of us, overall it will be priced even higher than the Rock Band bundle was for the other 3 platforms. Keep reading to see a picture of the ad we found and additional pricing info.

Dev0From the folks at G4TV:

Rock ‘n roll legend and Devo founder Mark Mothersbaugh stopped by X-Play the other day and dropped the word that three Devo tracks are coming to Rock Band, including anti-anthem “Through Being Cool!”

Mothersbaugh said they three songs were coming to the game, “And we re-recorded one.”

“They wanted ‘Through Being Cool’ for some reason, which is kind of odd because its all synth solos,” Mothersbaugh said. “So we re-recorded it. My brother Bob, who’s our guitar player, played all my synth solos, synth leads, as guitar leads, so it would relate to the game better, and then we recorded one of those little crazy endings that they put on it.”

No word yet on what other Devo tracks are coming or when they will be available, but as soon as we hear, we’ll whip that info out to ya.

At a 24-hour Guitar Hero marathon held by Blockbuster to benefit the nonprofit “Education is Freedom” children’s charity, Grapevine, TX native Daniel Johnson blew away the Guinness World Record for a single-song high score.

Johnson played on the Xbox on expert level and scored 890,971 on the epic Dragonforce song, eclipsing the previous World Record set by Chris Chike by more than 10,000 points on his first attempt.

He didn’t brag, though: “I’m glad that I had the opportunity to break the record and help people learn about Education is Freedom,” said Johnson.

Well, many people complained that 360 users got console exclusive DLC with the addition of the HALO theme last year. Now PS3 users can also get flamed come June 5th, when the PSN store will offer a free track from one of its biggest selling properties - God of War.
