Hey everyone! I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the masses. I’m Chicago Horde (most people call me Brad) and I’m the newest (and first) addition to the Rockgamer.com editorial team! Mike & Jen, in their infinite wisdom, have given me the chance to help bring you any and all news and information regarding music gaming in general, obviously with a focus on Rock Band & Guitar Hero. *raises horns*
A little about my RB/GH preferences:
- Favorite Guitar Hero track (from disc): “The Trooper”
- Favorite Guitar Hero track (DLC): “Bark at the Moon”
- Favorite Guitar Hero game: Guitar Hero II (360 version)
- Favorite Rock Band instrument: Guitar/Drums (Hey, it’s a toss-up!)
- Favorite Rock Band track (from disc): “Foreplay/Long Time”
- Favorite Rock Band track (DLC): Tie between “Smokin’” & “Truckin’” (Until the Judas Priest album hits!)
- Number of Rock Band tracks owned: ALL
- Most wanted band: AC/DC
OK, enough about me. I want to hear from you! If you’re not registered for the forums, do it now! I’m on there pretty frequently, and welcome any and all questions/comments. Plus, I need someone to help me help hijack Mike’s threads! I can also be contacted at chicagohorde@rockgamer.com. (Just give me a few days to figure out how to get into that e-mail address…)
I’m fully committed to contributing to this site with anything and everything our members and guests want to know about. (And if you’re a guest, register already!) This site is for all of us who love rocking out with these games, and our site will only get better with input from you! Tell us things you want to have happen or would like to see here. Let’s strive to make this the premier site for all things rock-gaming related!
On a final note, I must give mucho thanks to Mike & Jen for their generosity in sending this opportunity my way and believing I have what it takes to help out around here. I will do my best to make myself a valued contributor to the site and not let anybody down!
If any of you are on LIVE, send me an invite sometime! (I’m on the gamer tag page here…..) Especially if you’ve created any band members based on “He-Man & the Masters of the Universe” characters! LOL
(No, seriously…)
And with that, BEWARE THE HORDE!
If you haven’t been Rock Band shopping online lately, you may want to head over to the new Amazon’s Rock Band Store. Its got all the games, peripherals, accessories, DLC songs and lots of neat stories etc. Just sending a nod out to my fellow shoppers with the internet and too much time on their hands!
(While you’re there, you could always pick up your Pre-order copy of GH:A - let me know if its worth it when you get it)
The folks over at MTV have done a little clarifying over all the rampant speculation of the direction the Guitar Hero franchise plans to go in order to compete with Rock Band’s raging success. With the single-band release of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, many have started guessing at the next band to be featured in the same format (see rumors on Van Halen and the Beatles). According to Stephen Totilo’s story, the single band format is not necessarily all we can expect going forward. Excerpts from the story follow. Motley Crue is the first band to release a new single via one of this year’s hottest rhytm games - Rock Band and now it looks like we’ll see the two joining up for another exciting event.
According to the press release, Harmonix is taking Rock Band on tour for the 40 city summer music rockoff, which will include hit bands like Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Trapt and more. At each stop, there will be a fold-out second stage where rockers can try their hand at shredding, banging, and wailing like Vince, Nikki, Mick and Tommy. Fans will also have the chance to take the stage and become the local Rock Band Champions.
Crue Fest will kick off on July 2 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Check out the Crue site for more details. Sounds like a blast.
As Rockgamer.com has previously reported, Rock Band for the Wii will be coming out in June and without a hard drive, Harmonix suggests that this version will be more like the PS2 version with no ability to download additional content (or create characters, or…..).
To make some amends to the Wii-ites, Rock Band has added five additional songs to the original 58 song lineup (including the unlockable songs - mostly by bands with Harmonix employees among them). Here are the additional five songs you will get:
- “Dirty Little Secret” - The All American Rejects
- “Don’t Look Back in Anger” - Oasis
- “Roam” - The B-52’s
- “Rockaway Beach” - The Ramones
- “Roxanne” - The Police
Looks like they tried to get a mix of genres in there and I know many folks paid for the Oasis pack as well as Roxanne and Roam. And, they do have those cool white drums….
Well, next time consider an Xbox… sorry guys.
On April 15th for Xbox 360 and April 17th for Playstation 3 , Harmonix will be releasing Mötley Crüe’s new single “Saints of Los Angeles”. This will make the Crüe the first ever band to release a single through the widely sold game. And the price is nice!
“Saints of Los Angeles” by Mötley Crüe (master)
It will cost $0.99 (80 Microsoft Points) for a limited time.
Coming out through the band’s own Mötley Records, Saints Of Los Angeles (the album) is the first album in nearly a decade to feature all four original members of the veteran hard rock outfit: Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee.
Just announced, a Classic Rock Pack is in the queue for downloading on Tuesday as Rock Band continues to release new songs every week. Here’s what you’re in store for:
“Call Me” by Blondie (master)
“Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd (master)
“Message in Bottle” by the Police (master)
This week’s DLC for $1.99 per song (160 Microsoft Points) or these songs can also be bought in a 3-song Classic Rock pack for $5.49 (440 Microsoft points). PS3 Store should be back up on Thursday so these tracks should come out then as well along with the last two weeks of DLC that they’ve missed.
