Audiosurf - Another Great Music Game

Valve - makers of the hit game Portal (with that crazy Still Alive song)- have begun announcing their latest figures on which games have sold the most on their Steam System - the company’s PC platform for digital content.  With over 150 games available across PC applications, movies and demos, gamers are starting to flock to Steam for online gameplay activity.  February’s top seller?  Audiosurf.

angelssing.jpgAudiosurf is a music-adapting puzzle racer where you use your own music to create your own experience.  (What?  Puzzles and my Rock Music together?? I think I hear angels singing because I must be in heaven! ) The shape, the speed and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose and the goal is to hit as many music notes on the ride as possible.  Click here to see a link of a user playing Audiosurf to Blur’s Song Two.

Similar to Rock Band and Guitar Hero -Audiosurf’s success shows that more and more people are turning to games to have a musical experience and in addition, the success of the games has led to more music sales.

Audiosurf is available from the audio-surf.com website for only $9.95 and there’s a free demo available for download if you wanna try before you buy. Audiosurf is receiving rave reviews and was a finalist in the 2008 Independent Games Festival. The Escapist’s review suggests this: Buy it!

I’ll be checking out Audiosurf myself since you can play music from your own MP3 and CD collections and I haven’t played enough puzzles lately.
