Is that Guitar Hero in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

guitarheropocket1.jpgThere is a super portable pocket sized Guitar Hero game coming out. Basic Fun’s Guitar Hero Carabiner measures 7 3/4″ X 3″.  The neck of the guitar is foldable, taking it down to a more pocketable 4″ x 3″ - although you don’t seem to need the neck of the guitar to play the game.

There is an LCD that displays the upcoming notes for each song as well as a clip so that it can easily attach to your belt and look like every other dorky guy who has his blackberry, his phone, his pager and his fanny pack on his waist.

Some pretty good songs are included from Guitar Hero I and II-  “Smoke on the Water, Rock this Town, Cherry Pie, Killer Queen, You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’, Miserlou, Heart Shaped Box, Message in A Bottle Jessica, and Surrender.

Basic Fun worked with both Activision and Red Octane to make your portable experience as much fun as the original. It even has a “whammy bar” which is actually a button - not exactly the same experience but does the job I guess.  Guitar Hero Carabiner will retail for $14.99 and will be available at Target, KB Toys, Toys ‘R’ Us etc… in late Feb early March.

Note:  This is exactly the reason I cannot be called a “Gamer”.  To me, the fun in these games is having your friends around your living room collaborating as a team… although I guess I don’t have an hour train commute into the city or anything without much to pass the time.  If you buy this, just please don’t clip it to your belt.

Rock on

Jen

Thanks for the story Chip Chick

That’ll make a cheesy, but slightly amusing stocking stuffer this Christmas……
